EVERYTHING I WANT TO SAY STICKS IN MY THROAT LIKE COPPER JUMPERS

The hallway is long and not heated
It connects two buildings in a way that is so military
The light bulbs were collected in the belly of a nuclear silo
Are these for a prison or a school, the nuclear silo chuckled
Those silos can be so clean
Behind one door in the hallway is a room full of books
behind another is a room full of feelings behind another door
is a room full of colors
My parents have their heads down
I have braided my hair with my thoughts
I enter the room full of books
There at the desk which used to be the king’s
is the old woman who tells me I have chosen all rooms
who tells me the king was her son but she doesn’t mind
he was deposed who needs a king anyway
He is much happier
I look back at my parents
I love the old woman immediately and forever
I feel her everywhere
She is my teacher
